Synopsis

Beyond the limits of sight, magical beings live in the Forbidden Realm. The two worlds were once connected, but the desires of man forced their separation. Now, desire may bring them back together . . .Aliya is a mermaid with an obsession. Though contact with humans is strictly forbidden, she can't seem to stay away from the incredibly handsome Devin, who visits her lake night after night. Her body and soul have never been drawn to anyone like this before. Deciding that her longing for Devin is worth the risk, she goes to him. As their lust for each other deepens, Aliya grows to need his touch as much as she needs water.

Devin believed Aliya was a perfect fantasy his mind created-until the breathtaking mermaid swims to shore. Courtesy of a magical wish, Aliya is newly human, and she and Devin give in to their passion again and again. But Aliya's mortal form is only temporary. If they don't have the strength to part ways when the time comes, their illicit love could rock the balance between the realms forever . . .

Am I not getting something? I mean sure the book doesn’t have that many reviews yet, but still, I’m in the minority. I see the four star reviews and I am all like “what did I miss?” I even made it to the end, which I was seriously not considering for a bit there.

In KISSED BY THE WAVES we have mermaid Aliya and human Devin as well as two fairies. After watching Devin for quite some time taking his. . .acquaintances with benefits. . . out on the lake she patrols and feeling his all-consuming pain that cannot be taken away by passion, she finally decides to intervene. And by intervene I mean offer her body as his for the taking. *gag me* I mean seriously, I know you’ve never (is experienced the word?) experienced the whole humane lust thing but honey pie, a little self-respect, please?

That’s basically all there is to Aliya and Devin. The mermaid society was all about responsibility and honor, so I felt she gave into her curiosity a little too quickly. And their whole relationship. Can you say insta-love? It that’s your thing, this is oh-so-very-totally the perfect book for you. But if you’re like me, and you want to run the other direction, run the other direction. I wanted to love this book, because, the writing is pretty good. The characters were a little 2-D, I didn’t form any connections to them, but the way her world vs. his world was described was interesting.

And then we have Raea, a wish granting fairy and Aliya’s friend, and Kyne, a half human half fairy with very human emotions. They make a bet and that’s basically how everything in this book gets going. The character I liked best in the book was Kyne and the character I liked the least was Raea. I can’t really say why with either of them because, well, spoilers.  The, well, everything, just felt kind of cheesy.

The plot twist that the author put in this book was, well I predicted it. And it still made me want to slap them both. With my Kindle. But I didn’t want to hurt my Kindle.

Overall, this book was not my cup of tea. With the ista-love and constant acting like bunnies, it was just . . . not me.
